Northeast Community College is a comprehensive community college serving a 20-county area in northeast Nebraska with a main campus in Norfolk and education centers in West Point, O’Neill, and South Sioux City. Northeast currently offers more than 80 vocational/technical, liberal arts, and college transfer options leading to associate degrees, as well as diplomas and certificates. In addition, the College offers numerous continuing education courses for individuals wanting to upgrade skills and meet professional requirements. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Northeast Community College has a firm commitment to reducing the brain drain from northeast Nebraska by recruiting students from the region, training them for careers in the area, and helping them to find employment right here in northeast Nebraska. In 2008, 104 students graduated from Northeast’s nursing program with either an associate degree in nursing or a diploma in practical nursing, and of those, 99 percent are either employed in the nursing field or continuing their education. In addition, according to the Graduate Employment Report, 91 percent of all 2008 Northeast graduates stayed in Nebraska, and almost 64 percent are employed in the northeast region.
